RONALDO HAILS LA LIGA
Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo has said that the La Liga is the best league in the world right now.
The Portuguese winger has said that La Liga is the best league in the world because it allows its players to express themselves. The English Premier League was regarded as one of the best in the world, but the dominance of Barcelona in the European Champions League has changed the opinions of people a lot.
POWER SHIFT IN SPAIN
It seems that the balance of power is finally shifting in Spain. It did not seem to be realistic when Real Madrid were leading Barcelona by a slender three points, but after the weekend Real Madrid have extended their lead to a massive six points, which will prove extremely crucial as the season progresses.
HIGUAIN WANTS PATIENCE
It's taken just over a season, but finally Jose Mourinho is sat at the top of the Primera Liga table. Barcelona's slip-up last week, when they could only draw 0-0 with Sociedad, gave the Madrilenos a chance to hit the top of the table, and its a chance they took with both hands!
Obviously there is still a long way to go, with it being only October, but the signs are there that Madrid can become the dominant force in Spanish football.
REAL MADRID SHIFTS FOCUS TOWARDS ASIA
Real Madrid have signed a new deal with an Asian football events company to build their fan-base in Asia. The La Liga giants are considering setting up an academy in the city-state and could bring youngsters to Madrid to train under their coaches.
"We've been talking to our partner here, (events company) Centurion, about that ... to have the chance to play in Singapore," Real's international sponsorship manager Alfonso Roberes De Cominges told Channel News Asia on Monday.
REAL MADRID DETERMINED TO BEAT BARCA
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is making it a personal quest to beat Barcelona to the signing of Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
Sport says Florentino, tired of Barca's dominance in the Liga at his club's expense and wary of the growing discontent amongst the faithful, is determined to deliver a serious blow to their eternal rivals with the capture of Cesc.
He and his No2, Jose Angel Sanchez, have been plotting since the New Year on plans to land the Gunners captain.
MOURINHO REJECTS PORTUGAL LINK
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has denied reports that he will be taking over the Portugal job. It had been suggested that the Real Madrid boss could take temporary charge of his homeland for a Euro 2012 double-header against Denmark and Iceland in October.
MOURINHO INTERESTED IN CARVALHO
Jose Mourinho is keen on being re-united with Ricardo Carvalho by bringing him to Real Madrid. The defender, who was with Mourinho at Porto, joined him at Stamford Bridge in 2004 for a fee reported to be £19.85 million, going on to make over 200 appearances for the west London club.
But in recent times, the Portugal international has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea - with previous reports indicating that manager Carlo Ancelotti may be looking to pair skipper John Terry with Alex in the heart of his defence next season.
REAL MADRID GET MOURINHO
The new coach of Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho, has singled out the areas of the team he feels needs strengthening.
The former Inter tactician has wasted no time in assessing his squad as he begins his newly-signed four-year contract at the Real Madrid.
One of the main areas he wants to strengthen is the full-back position, despite the La Liga runners-up spending £6 million on Liverpool’s Alvaro Arbeloa on a five-year-deal last season.
"Real have a right-back that I like very much in Sergio Ramos," Mourinho told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.
MAdrid Still Hope
Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini has warned Barcelona they are not champions yet, insisting the Blaugrana's El Clasico victory at the Bernabeu won't be enough to secure the Liga title.
"We said before the Clasico that whoever won the match cannot afford to think they are the champions and that whoever lost cannot believe the league is over,” said Pellegrini at a press conference today.
“The season ends on May 16, so we will try to cut into the lead until the very last match.”
Real Chase Silva
Real Madrid are reportedly ready to rival Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool for winger David Silva.
The slight Spaniard has been courted by a handful of clubs in recent years, with both United and Liverpool thought to be just two of the leading clubs chasing a signature.
Silva and Valencia team-mate David Villa are continuously courted by the cream of europe, with Los Che suffering serious financial difficulties that threatened a mass exodus from the Mestalla only a year ago.
