SANCHEZ WANTED DROGBA

Real Madrid legend Hugo Sanchez has said that he wanted Real Madrid to sign current Chelsea striker Didier Drogba more than 10 years ago.

Hugo Sanchez is one of the best players for Real Madrid over the years and he seemed to have identified the fact that Didier Drogba had all it took to become one of the best players in the world.

The striker scored the only goal of the game in the match against Barcelona, which has handed Chelsea a huge advantage as they head into the second leg at the Camp Nou. The 34-year-old is coming to the end of his contract with Chelsea and he may very well leave the club at the end of the season.

Sanchez has revealed that he wanted Real Madrid to sign Didier Drogba very much in the same way that he wanted them to sign former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as well. Real Madrid, in the end, actually signed Ruud van Nistelrooy, but for a mega fee from Manchester United.

Saturday will be seeing Real Madrid visit the Camp Nou looking to maintain their four-point advantage in the table. If Real Madrid come out with a draw in the match, then it would be a massive relief for the Los Blancos according to Sanchez.

"One of the strikers that I wanted to see at Madrid is Drogba. I said the same thing about Ruud van Nistelrooy, and I recommended Drogba years ago. The thing is that too much time has passed now for him to join Madrid. No one paid attention to what I said. But Drogba has long been one of my favourite strikers in the world, and he had an amazing match against Barca yesterday," Sanchez said in a recent interview.

Real now rely on Cristiano Ronaldo to score their goals, with his current good form helping to shorten portugal's euro 2012 odds as well as propel the Madrilenos to the title.
