Zinedine Zidane Revels in FIFA Club World Cup Success for Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane says that he is extremely happy to have been part of the Real Madrid setup as the manager in 2016, as it has just finished extraordinarily successful for the club.

After managing to overcome a disappointing start to last campaign under Rafa Benitez, the club managed to end up as the Champions League winners in the summer. Zidane became one of the very few people to have won the title as a player and as a manager. More importantly, he managed to win the competition in less than six months after taking over and it is a record matched by few people like Roberto di Matteo.

Now, the Frenchman has overseen Real Madrid’s success in the Club World Cup title. After having beatenKashima Antlers in extra time, Madrid managed to win the FIFA Club World Cup. This was the second major honour for the club in 12 months, and Zidane could not control his joy after the victory.

The club are also gunning to make the entire season more successful as they have a commanding lead in the La Liga title race. Madrid are six points ahead of Barcelona at the time of departing to play in the FIFA Club World Cup. The La Liga does not resume until the first week of January.

"For everyone, for the players... It's been phenomenal and I'm delighted with the work we've done. There's no key aspect but what we've been doing is improving in every game. Of course we suffer sometimes and we don't play as we should, but that's normal. I thank my players because what they're doing is something phenomenal. You always enjoy a trophy. We knew that we would have to suffer. The opponents haven't surprised us because we knew that they could give us a game,” said Zidane.
