KROOS OUT FOR THE SEASON

Real Madrid have been dealt a big blow in their quest to end the season by retaining their Spanish La Ligatitle after it was revealed that star midfielder Toni Kroos will miss the rest of the season. The club announced earlier on Friday that Kroos has tested positive to Covid-19. To this effect, the German international player will miss the final two games of the season.

Kroos missed the last La Ligagame which resulted in a crucial win over Granada in the race for the title. The ex-Bayern Munich playmaker was ruled out of the away game with Granada after coming in contact with someone that has Covid-19.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has had to deal with a lot of injury issues to important players this season. He could miss more than five players for the game against Athletic Bilbao this weekend including the aforementioned Kroos.

Apart from Kroos, Real Madrid will be without injured players like club skipper Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajaland Ferland Mendy for the Bilbao game.

Real Madrid have to win the game against Athletic Bilbao if they have any plans of retaining the La Liga title they won ahead of Barcelona last season. Anything other than a win will see city rivals Atletico Madrid secure a first title in seven years if they beat Osasuna.

Atletico Madrid will win the La Liga title this season if they win their remaining two games against Osasuna and Real Valladolid irrespective of what happens with the Real Madrid games.

Real Madrid could end this season without a major trophy as theSpanish La Liga is their only realistic chance of not ending the season without amajor trophy. They were eliminated at the early stage of the Spanish Copa Del Rey this season, while they made it all the way to the semi-finals before being knocked out by Chelsea.
