MADRID EXTEND LA LIGA LEAD

Spanish La Liga leaders Real Madrid have extended their lead at the top of the table to ten points after their win at Real Mallorca on Monday. Real Madrid were able to stretch their advantage at the La Liga summit thanks to the 3-0 away win over Mallorca with all the three goals coming in the second half.


Real Madrid began the latest set of games in the Spanish La Liga with an eight-point lead over Sevilla and the advantage was reduced to seven points rather than five points when Sevilla could not beat hosts Rayo Vallecano with the two teams settling for a draw. Sevilla had to come from behind to secure the draw.

After a goalless affair in the first half, Rayo Vallecano took the lead in the first minute of the second half through former Manchester United winger Bebe. Danish midfielder Thomas Delaney then scored the Sevilla goal on 63 minutes that turned out to fetch the Europa League specialists a draw. They had enough time to find the winner, but they could achieve it.
Leaders Real Madrid started the Mallorca game with a seven-point advantage and with the knowledge that a win will take them ten points clear with ten games to go before the season ends. After a goalless situation in the first half, Real Madrid took control of the game in the second half and they were comprehensive winners in the end.
Brazilian star Vinicius Junior has been one of the best players in the Spanish La Liga this season and he scored the first goal of the game ten minutes into the second half. Star striker Karim Benzema added a second Real Madrid goal from the penalty spot on 77 minutes before the Frenchman completed his brace five minutes later to seal a 3-0 win for his team.
